Tirana's Bars

Colonal Tirana

Colonial Tirana is one of the most famous cocktail bars in Tirana, very frequented by young people. Located in the heart of the Blloku area, Colonial is very well known for its cocktails.

Surely it is also a place you can sit at during the day in its indoor and outdoor space, on a quiet street, a perfect hangout spot for the day. Nighttime is a whole new story. Full of people, music in the background and low lights, it looks like a completely different place.

Decorated with a Middle Eastern vibe, Colonial has a lot to offer. Not sure what you want to drink? Just tell the waiter what you feel like having at the moment and he will prepare you a custom cocktail.

One of the most exciting parts is the cocktail glasses. Skull-shaped, flower vase-shaped, silver trophy-shaped etc.

Radio Bar Tirana

Radio Bar is a unique place in Tirana. Known for the good music, delicious cocktails and authentic decor. Here you will find a spirit of Albanian cultural heritage, many old radio stations, various collections of albums, televisions, furniture, posters, glass collections, etc., elements that make this bar among the best of this type.

For Jazz music fans, every Thursday is your fun evening. While over the weekend this place is accompanied by the sounds of Disco & Electronic music. For all of you who are looking for a place other than the usual bars and clubs, this is the right place.

Radio was conceptualized as a truly original space. A place that had flair and a vibrant and colorful atmosphere which reminded people of their kindergarten days and pulled them right out of the gloomy Tirana of the time.

Objects and furniture from the country’s past, such as Albanian 20th-century furniture and film posters, are part of the interesting décor that you immediately notice as you enter Radio Bar.

The fact that Redi calls Radio’s menu his “life book,” may suffice in describing the great cocktail selection you can find here! “It’s the work of a lifetime,” he exclaims proudly as he tells the story of the many drinks he created and introduced to Tirana’s bar scene.

Radio hosts plenty of live music nights as well as parties with some of the most original DJs in town. For those of you who like a certain quality on a night out, who feel best in a cozy, low-key but fun atmosphere, and who love cool objects and well-designed space, Radio is your place!

Komiteti – Kafe Muzeum

So many coffee shops and bars in Tirana and you have to come up with some really different idea just to get people to notice you and Komiteti-Kafe Muzeum got that right. The name actually says it itself, “Komiteti-Kafe Muzeum” means: a coffee shop and a museum at the same time. The place’s interior design is inspired by the communism era in Albania: the furniture, the walls and even the toilet.

Also I think they are the only ones who serve this special candy that was very famous in 1970-1990 in Albania called “karamele Zana”. They serve it with coffee or tea which is pretty cool. Whenever I go there, I ask for 5-6 candies just because I’m nostalgic and yeah, the staff is so awesome that they don’t mind that.

Komiteti is also the only place in Tirana that has 18 types of different “raki” which is a famous alcoholic drink in Albania. Another thing I truly love and appreciate about Komiteti is the fact that the staff is willing to explain all the different objects that are part of the little museum inside the coffee shop.

The clients actually belong to very different categories: students, artists, some of the employees at a bank near the place, nostalgic people trying to remember what’s left of communism and tourists.

Hemingway Bar

A bit off the beaten path, in a very beautiful old part of the city, right behind the Ministry of Education, do not miss the jazzy/artsy Hemingway Bar. The best gin and rum selection, a whirlwind of concerts and events, jazz, blues, tap-dancing, film projections on dilapidated walls, and more.

Hemingway is a great place where every detail is well thought out. There is a very large choice of drinks, from long drinks, cocktails, beers and wine but the real highlight is the collection of rum from different origins.

So many flavors to taste, all of them served with so much care, that only someone like Rudi (the owner) could manage to do it.

It is curious how the best places always attract the best people. Hemingway Bar Tirana has the greatest community of special people who have their own passions, styles and beliefs, and this is something you could hardly find elsewhere in Tirana.

Nouvelle Vague

Its name, which derives from the iconic French cinematic movement, aptly reflects the bar’s innovative character. Its now-famous long list of original, homemade cocktails and its contemporary look and vibrant design made Nouvelle Vague an instant favorite in Tirana since its opening in 2013.

Due to its staying power in an area of the city where bars come and go at the speed of light, Nouvelle – as the locals refer to it – is now a landmark. You can hear the passionate discussions over the funky music playing in its intimate and permanently packed patio from a mile away. This is one of those places that you feel you have struck gold when you find a seat! Not to worry, for there is always more space inside the coveted bar, a much larger space than the veranda would suggest. Warmly lit, the atmosphere inside is both cozy and vibrant. During the week, it serves as the perfect place to enjoy a nice conversation with a delicious cocktail (or fresh smoothie in the daytime!). In the weekend, some of the best parties are thrown here and you cannot find this music elsewhere in Tirana.

The cocktails at Nouvelle are worth emphasizing. Their clever names – written in cute, chalk-drawn menu boards hanging on the patio – perfectly reflect the original mix of ingredients and fresh taste you will find here. For instance, a delicious rum concoction named “Rum si unë,” is a play on words of a popular Albanian expression that goes “Lum si unë”, meaning “Lucky me!” If you go with a local, you will have a blast trying to translate some of these.

Nouvelle’s cocktails are so famous that you will find this bar’s bartenders taking their movable feast all over the

country, at various times of the year, along with their loyal clientele in tow.

Bunker 1944

Located in the district of Blloku, this former bunker has been converted into a small lounge bar and original bohemian. Inside there are a lot of decorations and communist-era furniture, dipinti, old vinyl, clocks and radios.

There is a great selection of beers available, including IPA, London Porter e London Pride, and an international friendly crowd. Cocktails are served in jam jars, and there is live acoustic music most nights.

Firstly, I will explain to all of you the meaning of the name of this bar. "Bunker" it's an underground defensive military fortification, originally designed to protect people or materials from attacks or even bombs. On the other hand, 1944 stands for the Liberation Day of Albania from the German occupation. Furthermore, the bar manifests that era in its architecture and decor.

You can easily feel the vintage and retro atmosphere that this bar offers; old sofas and chairs, antique radios and paintings that date back to that time and invite you to dwell in albanian history. The dim lights create such an intimate atmosphere and coziness.

Bunker 1944 offers the best costumer service too. The staff is very friendly and they will make sure to give you the best time. And this place is perfect to try different cocktails and drinks, starting from those you've already tried to continue with original "recipes" from the barista.

Furthermore, almost every night and especially on weekends, you can attend different activities that the staff organizes. Live music, poetry and movie nights, games and lots of other interesting things. In few words, it's the perfect place to entertain yourself and make new friends.

Charl's

Charl’s Bistro is since 17 years a landmark in Tirana’ s night life. With a capacity of 500 seats, located in the center of the former Bllok, we are the first and most famous LIVE music club in Albania.

Some of the world music`s stars and the most famous Albanian bands play every weekend in our pub, making our club a place where everyone feels good.

From 2003 to 2007 we have organized the “Tirana biennial holidays” in our place, in corporation with some big international and Albanian companies.

An eclectic and fashionable 30-something crowd populates this fantastic lounge bar specialising in Western hits from the '60s to the '80s. The somewhat oddly spelt venue has admirably been going for almost two decades, hosting live music acts as well as party events on weekend evenings, and Latin dancing on Wednesdays.

The cocktail bar in the lush small garden spits out great drinks all week, plus there’s a good menu of food available to soak up the excess alcohol.

SALT Restaurant

This beautifully renovated villa is home to a fusion restaurant on the first floor, with interior and exterior spaces, It serves delicious sushi and pasta and includes a cocktail bar on the outdoor terrace on the 2nd floor. The best urban living room of the Albanian capital!

Everyone is talking about and checking in at SALT right now in Tirana! Since the opening, it seems like this is the perfect place to be for dinner, lunch or maybe just drinks.

SALT restaurant became instantly famous for its great location in the very center of the Blloku area. The partially open second floor is perfect for the spring and summer days and an added value to this beautiful location. Besides the nice atmosphere, the food and the drinks prepared with care are indeed delicious.

The menu offers great choice of very interesting dishes including pastas, appetizers, sushi, salads and premium meats. The brunch during the weekend is also very good.

Since SALT is a very hip place a dress code may be often required during the evenings. Also would be safe to have a reserved table for dinner in the first floor.

Bufe – Wine bar

Bufe is a small wine hip: come here for a good appetizer, sipping fine wine and accompanied it all with a tasting of toasted bread with mashed vegetables in oil.

Bufe wine bar is a new place in Tirana, located very close to the city center. Bufe offers a wide variety of imported wines. The place is very small and that is probably the reason why I really like it, because it really makes you feel at ease. I also like the décor at Bufe: simple and clean with a vintage hint.

The wine variety is so great; you can find so many kinds of (generally Italian) wines including white, red, rose and sparkling, and the price range is so wide so you can easily find the one that is more to your taste. Here you can also find some special types of other drinks such as special Grappa and some wine based cocktails.

To make this place even cooler there is a very nice menu with a variety of appetizers to pair with the wine like some snacks and salads.

Meduza is one of those places which will leave you with a very good impression every time you go there. If you’re looking for a nice and friendly environment then Meduza is that place.

Every time I go to Meduza in the evening I immediately get in a beer mood, because there are more than 50 types of beers and other drinks at Meduza.

Meduza would be the place to be for those who like Irish Pubs. As an Irish Pub lover I go to Meduza very often. In addition, Meduza is located in my favourite street so it definitely is one of my favourite spots in Tirana. It couldn’t be any other way.

The atmosphere is always lively at Meduza and to me the people who visit Meduza seem happy. Maybe it is the beer mood which makes them enjoy the place. However, as an Irish Pub fan I enjoy Meduza’s style.

Duff Sports bar

Duff is an American style sports bar, furnished with walls plastered with photographs of American sports idols and a menu that includes chicken wings and nachos. There is a good selection of European beers along with a bewildering choice of cocktails. The terrace tends to be crowded during the hot summer nights. In addition to countless performances basketball and American football, also show other sports including plenty of quality European football.

You know what’s the greatest thing about this place? They make GREAT cheesecakes and on Mondays they serve them for FREE. Okay, just kidding. So Duff Bar kinda looks like one of those American bars you go to watch sports and drink lots of beer (Simpsons fans will get it) and I have to admit the beer there is awesome.

They often have these events like Beer Pong or you can just watch football matches while having beer. Basically if you don’t like drinking, this is not your place. But what made this place “famous” in the first place was the Beer Pong competition. Every weekend different teams challenge each other while the rest of the bar watches, while drinking :P.

They even serve some amazing American Fast Foods like Hot Dogs, Cheeseburgers, Naho burgers and lots of other burgers with delicious names and tastes. And besides the free-cheesecake-Mondays, they also serve free jelly shots from time to time, especially if it’s the first time you go there.

Admission costs about 500 LEK, the equivalent 3,5 Euro, and Thursday evenings there is also a free drink included in the price. No doubt one of the icons of Tirana nightlife.

Established in 2006, Lollipop has been a local favorite since its very beginnings. This well-established venue, one of the first contemporary local nightclubs, has enjoyed continuous popularity thanks to its location at the heart of the bustling Bllok, its vibrant atmosphere and some of the best dance music around.

A nice rotation of famous Albanian and international DJs host parties of various genres here. Usually, the night begins with more pop and R&B hits and gradually moves into electronic and house music. Only recently, for instance, Lollipop hosted parties by the local legendary DJ Aldo with a nostalgic 90s theme, the popular hip-hop artist Noizy, and the Russian duo Filatov and Karas, internationally famous for hits like “Time Won’t Wait” and their hit remake of Imany’s “Don’t Be So Shy.” In order to keep updated, check out their Facebook and Instagram.

As it has been around longer than most other clubs in Tirana, Lollipop always finds ways to reinvent itself. The design of this medium-sized venue, which fits about 500 people, is modern and spacious. The place includes ample space for dancing among the high tables, set up to nicely keep your drink steady as you dance the night away. For a more intimate experience, there is a VIP area which sits slightly above the bar.

During the summer, Lollipop moves to one of the trendiest beaches of the Riviera, in the gorgeous south of Albania. You may find it in either Drimadhes, Dhërmi, Palasë or a new location.
